Youโve asked, and weโve listened! After seeing your enthusiasm for our previous two celebrity recipes (you can find them in our guides), weโve decided to make it a series ???? In this series, weโll explore celebritiesโ favourite foods and the recipes they have shared (adding our plant-based twist to it, how fun!) Iโll also add some little tips at the end of the caption if youโre interested in making them a bit more nourishing.
The spicy vodka pasta shared by Gigi Hadid is one of the most viral recipes out there. In her version, she uses heavy cream, which weโve swapped for our homemade cashew cream. It is delicious and super easy to make!
Our take โจ this pasta recipe is so tasty, I can see why everyone is obsessed with it! Itโs creamy and super comforting. Weโve already made it a few times since tasting it. This pasta is super spicy, which I love, but you might want to start with half the chilli flakes and build up from there. Vodka is optional if you donโt have it on hand.
To make it more nourishing, I like to serve it with a side of grilled broccoli with lemon and chopped almonds (my go-to pasta side!). If youโre looking to bump your protein intake, you can add some silken tofu to the cashew cream and blend it together (promise you wonโt taste it!).

Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp chilli flakes (adjust to taste)
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 shallots
- 2 tbsp vodka (optional)
- 0.5 cup tomato paste
- 400 g Orecchiette pasta
- 2 tbsp vegan butter
- 1 handful fresh basil
- 0.5 cup pasta water
- 0.25 cup vegan parmesan (optional)
Cashew cream
- 0.5 cup cashews
- 1.5 cups soy milk
- 0.25 cup nutritional yeast
Instructions
- Start by soaking the cashews in boiling water for at least 30 minutes. Once soaked, drain the water and add the cashews to a blender along with the soy milk and nutritional yeast. Blend until you achieve a smooth consistency.
- Next, cook the pasta according to the instructions on the packet. Remember to save 1/2 cup of the pasta water for later use.
- While the pasta is cooking, finely mince the garlic and shallots. In a pan on low heat, add the olive oil, shallots, garlic, and chilli flakes. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring consistently to prevent them from burning.
- Add the tomato paste to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Deglaze the pot with the vodka, if using.
- Stir in the blended cashew cream until well combined. Add the cooked pasta to the pot along with the reserved pasta water. Stir well to ensure the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the vegan butter and stir until it has melted into the sauce. Finally, stir in the chopped basil leaves and vegan parmesan, if using. Serve hot and enjoy your Gigi Hadid-inspired Spicy Vodka Pasta!
