Hi, I’m Sarah Cobacho
I’m an accredited nutritionist (AdvDip.Nutr) specializing in plant-based nutrition.
My partner Cam and I started plantbaes in 2022. Our goal was simple: to share nutritious plant-based recipes with the world as far and wide as possible, inspiring others who may be interested in embracing a similar way of living.
Coming from a small town in the French Riviera to now living with Cam in beautiful Sydney, Australia, spending my days testing healthy, delicious plant-based recipes and sharing them with like-minded people from all around the world feels surreal. I’m so grateful to call this my life.
Growing up in France, cooking was a significant part of my family. My grandmother and father, especially, were amazing cooks. I spent countless hours with them in the kitchen, and I credit them with developing my passion for cooking. Looking back, my diet growing up was very much the cliché you might imagine of a French diet, ranging from extravagant multi-course meals to mountains of croissants, cheese, and pasta. Health was definitely not on our priority list. Life was for enjoying, and food brought us all together.
This stands in stark contrast to my life today in Australia. I moved to Australia in 2015 after finding myself struggling with the passion for the law degree I was studying at the time. A brief trip to recharge in Bali led to a last-minute decision to follow a friend to Australia before heading home to France. Only I didn’t make it home to France! I happened to meet my Aussie partner Cam, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
Eight years later, I officially became an Australian citizen!
When I met Cam, I had been a vegetarian for two years, and he was a big meat-eater. Luckily, he and his family were very open and supportive of my choices. I’d seen a slaughterhouse video two years earlier that made me vow never to eat an animal again. Cam has always been interested in health and longevity, often eating oats in the morning and liters of green smoothies throughout the day. So when we came across content online about whole food plant-based diets and their positive impact on our health, animal welfare, and the planet, it just clicked for both of us that this was something we had to do.
During that time, we were on a constant search for the best information to remain as healthy as possible while following a vegan diet. I particularly loved cooking and incorporating all of our findings into our meals. This led me to pursue my newfound passion for nutrition. I went back to university for three years and was very fortunate to have had an incredibly experienced plant-based nutritionist to train under in my practice clinic. I also discovered that there was a huge gap in the nutrition space where food was either healthy OR delicious when, in reality, it could be both.
Today, I feel like I’ve really found my calling in creating healthy, delicious recipes that are easy to make at home. My goal is to inspire as many people as possible (in a judgment-free community where everyone is welcome, no matter where they are on their health journey) to live a healthier, happier life that benefits themselves, the people around them, the planet, and the animals we share it with. Any step we can take towards a plant-based diet is a step in the right direction, and I am here to guide you.
